Mardi-Gras Carnival

Dalinda Toro chaired her 2nd event for the PTA, two weeks after chairing her 1st event (Handbag Bingo - see below).  This event was for grades K, 1, 2 and 3.  Parents and kids were to interact and play various carnival games for the first half of the night.  Most of the games were hand made by Dalinda and Mrs. Luderer.
Thanks to all the Middle & High School students who came in to assist with the stations, decorations, cleanup and more.  Mr. Delisio and his 6th grade band also helped to inspire the Mardi Gras feel with their wind and percussion instruments.
All students were winners that night.  Each was handed a goodie bag of prizes immediately upon entering.  The evening ended with a 45 minute show by Fun on a String marionette variety show.  Thank you all for participating at this fun night.

Handbag Bingo 2012         Updated: March 4th, 2012 by Nancy Loiacono

The PTA's first fundraiser, benefiting 7th and 8th Grade, was a great success.  We appreciate the positive feedback we received along with upbeat ideas for next year's event.  The net profit, to be split 50/50 between both grades, is approximately $4020.
There are so many parents to thank.  MS families donated food and merchandise beyond expectation, nonetheless I will name a few: The Telleri Family (donated their time and proceeds from the Hot Dog/Water sales), Doreen Russo, Olga Derick, Mr. Miodusczewski, The Gallina Family, Ryan Grimes and The Esposito Family.  We wish we could name everyone who donated but we were not prepared for the outpouring of help.  We'll do our best to recognize everyone next year.
As many of you know, Principal Giancola came into our building ready, willing and able to immerse herself into our school.  She brought us fresh ideas which included this very enjoyable and successful fundraiser.
Dalinda Toro's attention to detail helped make this a smoothly run event.  For those who don't know who she is, she manned the rear overhead projector and verified each Bingo winner's card.
We must also thank our Coach bag purchasers, who despite not having children in our Middle School, thought this warranted their time and effort.  Dunia Harb's, Patty LaFerie and Mrs. Giancola went to great lengths to get us great deals and a variety of items.
The Middle School students created colorful Runners/Banners which  were used on tables and as wall decorations.
Thanks to all the teacher and parent volunteers who supported this event from the very beginning.  The first time is always the hardest.  Thanks to the volunteers that came in at 3pm to set-up and either never left or returned at 6pm to start & end the evening. I tried to take as many photos of the volunteers as possible but there are always a few that are not captured on film.
Finally, thanks to  Mr. Walker for providing comic relief throughout the night and to Rodney Telleri's fake Bingo shout out during one intense bingo game.

2012 Daughter Date Dance

Approximately 40 students attended the Daughter Date Dance with their fathers, uncles or other adult male family members.  Thank you all for making this such a wonderful event for the girls.  Additional photos are available on http://school6pta.shutterfly.com.  Contact nancy@school6pta.com to get an invite and become free members to the site.

2012 Winter Dance - Grades 4, 5, 6

Approximately 42 kids attended this casual dance which was chaperoned by many veteran PTA members.  In an effort to better serve the K-6 student body, the PTA will host different events for the average age groups. At this dance, DJ Kevin took song requests and supplied the "Radio"/clean version was available.  The gym was dimly lit so that the color/strobe lights had maximum effect.
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out and to the parents to entrusted their children to our care.  A special thanks to 2 eigth graders who helped us: Eric Shantizis and Peter Gallina.  Additional photos are available on http://school6pta.shutterfly.com.  Contact nancy@school6pta.com to get an invite and become free members to the site.
A different type of event is in the works for Grades K-3, see calendar for more details.
